EAST LANSING, Mich. — Michigan State wrestling incoming freshman Peyton Omania won the Greco-Roman Junior National Wrestling Championship in Fargo, North Dakota on Friday night.

Omania defeated Tyler Eischens of Andover, Minnesota, an incoming freshman at Stanford, in the final at 152 pounds. The future Spartan rallied from a six-point deficit to secure an 8-7 victory.

Last season, Omania was second at the 2017 Junior Nationals in Greco-Roman before capturing the title this season.

This was Omania’s second title this summer, as he earned an invitation to represent Team USA at the 2018 Junior World Wrestling Championships in June after he won the 67-kg division at the USA Wrestling Greco-Roman World Team Trials in Indianapolis.

Omani will be in action with Team USA in Trnava, Slovakia at the Junior Worlds, Sept. 17-24.
