Farmington Hills (MI) Harrison) 2019 offensive and defensive lineman Maverick Hansen has seen his recruitment pick up in recent weeks as he’s received offers from Syracuse and Ball State, but is also keeping an eye on #5 Michigan State, who he visited last Saturday for the Spartans’ annual Green and White Spring Game.

Hansen spoke with Spartan Nation and said that something that stands out to him about East Lansing each time he visits is the family atmosphere around the football program.

“It’s like a family-like lifestyle out here,” he said. “Everyone gets along, I see kids coming here and saying ‘This coach has been so good to me, it’s a family, everyone is combined together’. It’s really just a lifestyle, a family-like community.”

Along with Michigan State, Hansen has also received interest from Michigan, Iowa State, and Minnesota. In addition to his offers from Ball State and Syracuse, Hansen holds another offer from Morgan State.

Hansen, who previously called Michigan State his ‘dream school’ said that each time he visits East Lansing, he can simply envision seeing himself playing in Spartan Stadium on Saturdays.

“It’s awesome, it’s my dream,” he said. “Every time I come here, I could just imagine myself playing on that field.”

A 6-foot-5, 265-pound lineman who is capable of playing on both sides of the ball, Hansen said that a possible offer from the Spartans would obviously be a welcomed one.

“That would be the biggest dream come true,” he said. “One of the biggest things that could happen to somebody just dropped down on one person. That’s what that offer would mean to me.”

When Hansen last spoke with Spartan Nation, he said that he was not in any rush to make a college decision and is simply letting the recruiting process play out, but an offer from the Spartans could speed up the decision making process for him.

But with several months left before a decision needs to be made, Hansen admitted that he wants to improve his all-around game before reaching college, specifically, he wants to be more decisive with the decisions he makes on the football field.

“I have to get better at deciding where I’m going to go, deciding 100-percent on what I need to do,” he said. “But all the way around, I want to just get better.”
