Belleville (MI) 6-foot-5, 285-pound offensive lineman Devontae Dobbs has long been considered as one of, if not the top player in the 2019 class in the entire nation and was on campus at #15 Michigan State for a visit over the weekend.
Spartan Nation caught up with Dobbs on Sunday night to talk about the recruiting process and recap his trip to East Lansing and the 5-star recruit said that he’s enjoying his recruitment for the most part and is excited to see all of the opportunities that he has in front of him.

“The attention is something that I like,” he said. “Sometimes, some of the pressure that coaches put on about the recruitment can be some of the things that you might not like. But overall, it’s a fun experience and it’s opened a whole lot of doors for me, so I’m enjoying it for the most part.”
With over a full year left before National Signing Day for the 2019 class, Dobbs already holds 26 offers, including offers from Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Nebraska, Oregon, Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan and Michigan State.
Dobbs, who told Spartan Nation that he likes the fact that Michigan State is giving him space and time to make his decision, also said that he had the opportunity to speak with Spartans’ head coach Mark Dantonio over the weekend and was told that they are trying to provide everything that Dobbs wants in a college in East Lansing.

“He was just asking me how Michigan State was holding in my recruiting,” he said. “He said I was going to have all of the pieces to the puzzle that I’m looking for in a school.”
Dobbs already has a pair of teammates headed for Michigan State as Belleville 2018 cornerback Davion Williams has already signed his National Letter of Intent with the Spartans, while 2019 ATH Julian Barnett committed to Michigan State last month.
Dobbs also had the chance to spend time with Michigan State 2019 offensive line commit Spencer Brown, out of Walled Lake Western, and said that he would be interested in playing alongside Brown at the next level.
“I think it would be a really good experience, we already have a good relationship,” he said. “Just imagine four or five years with him.”
Dobbs said that he will “probably” camp at Michigan State this summer and also said that the Spartans are still in the mix for him when it comes to choosing a school. But when it comes down to what he likes most about Michigan State, his answer was a simple one.
“Just how comfortable I feel around the coaches,” he said.
