While he currently holds one offer in the recruiting process, Paramus Catholic (NJ) 2019 offensive lineman Christian Mahogany could be on the verge of seeing his recruitment take off as he’s received interest from several schools recently, including #16 Michigan State.

Mahogany recently spoke with Spartan Nation and said that he is “Heavily interested” in the Spartans and noted that the win over Washington State in the Holiday Bowl caught his attention.

“I just like the fire and the passion that they play with,” he said. “I was watching the Holiday Bowl and they took that one. Just the brotherhood that they have over there at Michigan State is great and I would love to one day maybe be a part of that.”

While he hasn’t scheduled a visit to East Lansing as of yet, Mahogany anticipates that he will be on campus at some point during the offseason and wants to see what Michigan State has to offer from an academic standpoint, as well as what the Spartans offer athletically.

“Definitely, 150-percent, I would like to see them during this offseason,” he said.

“100-percent, I’m definitely going to take a look,” Mahogany added. “Take a look at the academics, see how my mother likes it, my grandmother, see how she likes it and it skyrockets from there.”

Mahogany, who said that he’s been recruited by Spartans’ offensive line coach Mark Staten and defensive ends coach Mark Snyder, said that he feels his aggressive style is something that he does best and it’s something he’s heard from coaches who have recruited him.

“I think my aggressiveness and the way I play,” he said. “The way I take the game one step at a time is my best asset that I bring to the field.”

While he’s burst onto the scene as a top recruit out of New Jersey, the 6-foot-5, 320-pound offensive lineman said that he’s a humble player on the football field and lets his play do the talking.

“I don’t like to talk trash,” he said. “It’s just not how I play like if you talk trash to me, it’s all good, but once you’re on your back, that’s my part, I like to talk with my pads.”

Mahogany, who said that he grew up a fan of Georgia, considering he’s from the Peach State, has also received interest from several other Big Ten programs, including Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Rutgers.

When it comes to Wisconsin, Mahogany admitted that he’s drawn to the Badgers because of their track record of producing offensive linemen on a regular basis.

“I think it’s a great offensive line school,” he said. “Like I said, offensive lineman go and come out (of Wisconsin) all of the time, it’s just crazy.”

Another program that has caught Mahogany’s attention is Rutgers, which is a program that he says is on the rise and it helps that it’s not too far from home.

“I like them a lot,” he said. “They’re an up and coming school, they have their downs, but they also have their up moments. It’s always close to home, you never know what will happen.”
