EAST LANSING – Michigan State goaltender Jake Hildebrand was named the Big Ten Second Star of the Week, it was announced by the conference office on Tuesday (March 8).
Hildebrand led the conference with a .945 save percentage and 1.51 goals-against average last weekend as the Spartans earned a series split with nationally ranked Minnesota. He stopped 28 shots he faced in Saturday’s 5-0 blanking, recording his third shutout of the season and 13th of his career. His 13 shutouts are third most of any goaltender in program history.
It is the 10th career Big Ten weekly honor for Hildebrand, a native of Butler, Pennsylvania.
The Spartans close the regular season this weekend when they host Ohio State on Friday and Saturday at Munn Ice Arena. Hildebrand and the senior class will be honored following the conclusion of Saturday’s game.
