Spartans in the NFL- Week 16

Greg Jones, Devin Thomas and the Giants prevailed, 29-14, over Eric Smith, Plaxico Burress and the Jets in a heated rivalry game. Jones saw time at middle linebacker, picking up one special teams tackle on the day, while wide out Devin Thomas had one catch for 11 yards. Both Smith and Burress started for the Jets – Smith had two tackles at safety, while Burress caught three passes for 34 yards at wide receiver.

Kicker Dave Rayner had a busy day for the Bills in Buffalo’s 40-14 trouncing of the Broncos. Rayner connected on field goals of 25 (twice), 28 and 29 yards, and missed (wide left) on tries of 31 and 45 yards. He also nailed four extra points in the contest.

Ravens’ defensive tackle Brandon McKinney recorded two tackles in Baltimore’s 20-14 victory over the Browns.

Quarterback Drew Stanton was not active for the Lions’ playoff clinching 38-10 conquest of the Chargers.  

Brandon Fields had a busy day at punter for the Dolphins in his team’s 27-24 loss to the Patriots. Fields punted six times for an average of 44.8 yards, with his longest boot being of 61 yards. He also pinned New England inside its own 20 yard line twice. Patriots quarterback Brian Hoyer did not play in the game.

Cornerback Chris Rucker had another good game for the Colts, as his team triumphed 19-16 over the Texans. Rucker had two tackles, one assist, and one special teams tackle.

Ogemdi Nwagbuo played at defensive tackle for the Panthers but did not have any stats in Carolina’s 48-16 rout of the Buccaneers.

The Bengals’ Spartan duo of Kyle Cook (center) and Domata Peko (defensive tackle) both started in the team’s 23-16 win over the Cardinals. Cook had no stats, but Peko racked up one tackle, four assists, one sack for 11 yards, a quarterback hit and a tackle for loss.

Tight end Kellen Davis and the Bears fell to the Packers 35-21 in an NFC North rivalry showdown on Christmas. Davis reeled in three passes for 38 yards, including a one yard touchdown.
