Fickell is entering probably the toughest job in college football right now.  He may only be a temporary gap filler at OSU, but for this year he was the center of attention at the Media Days.  Here are the highlights:

ON THE CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUNDING HIS GETTING THE OSU JOB:

“The last few months have been a whirlwind.  Exciting, crazy, emotional, yet very productive as well.”

“I think the foundation has been set, and I’m excited about growing around that foundation that has been set.”

“I think and believe the number 1 most important thing for our program is the stability in our coaching staff that we’ve seen over the past years.”

“Everything happened pretty fast.  I had no time to sit and think.”

“Best thing for me is to hit the ground running.”

ON COMMUNICATION WITH TRESSEL:

“No I haven’t had contact with Coach Tressel.”

ON WHETHER OR NOT THE OSU ADMINISTRATION HAS FORBIDDEN HIM FROM TALKING TO TRESSEL:

“No I have not.”

ON QUARTERBACK SITUATION:

“Focus is going to be on the competitive nature.”

“Each one is a little bit different.  As we move along in camp we’ll see which one gives us the best chance to improve as a team.”

ON HIS OWN FUTURE AT OSU:

“Our focus is on what we can control.”

ON THE OFFENSIVE LINE:

“Game starts and is won up front.”

“We are thin.”

“That’s something we’re aware of, and we’ve got a plan for it.”
