2011 Spartan Nation Football Profile: #39 S Trenton Robinson
Expectation:Â All Big Ten S, Starting S Defensive Captain
Height:  5’10â€
2011 Eligibility:Â SeniorÂ
EXP:Â 3 letters
Status:Â Starting S, All Big Ten S (pre season)
Strengths: Against WMU there was 11:38 left in the second quarter and the Broncos had a third and eight at their own 28. Robinson was play S across the field. Using his great vision and field awareness, Robinson makes a great read, comes across the middle, and delivers an earth rattling devastating blow. It was a thing of beauty and is precisely why he will be drafted in the 2012 NFL draft. He has all of the intangibles to play at the next level.
Weakness: Against Notre Dame in the third quarter the Irish faced a second and seven at their own 36 with 4:47 left in the quarter. He came running up on a play to make a tackle and didn’t break down properly (good technique) and the Irish got the first down. Robinson plays with the heart of a giant, but he doesn’t have the 6’2†or 3†210# prototypical S body. He has to stay on technique. He usually does. This is just an example of what happens when he doesn’t.
Final Analysis: Robinson is as talented as they come. What makes him special is that he has the talent and the heart. He loves the game of football and is just a top flight young man. I can’t wait to see the season he is going to have. He is one of those rare talents that gets better every game and it shows in meaningful ways. I expect his teammates to vote him the defensive captain.
Next up: OG Chris “MAGNUS†McDonald
