  • Brian Hoyer threw the first touchdown of his young career on a beautiful 42 yard strike to Brandon Tate in the Patriots’ 38-7 annihliation of the Dolphins. Hoyer looked brilliant, completing 7 of 13 passes for 122 yards and a touchdown on the day. Brandon Fields had a busy day for Miami, booting six punts for a 48 yard average, including a 61 yarder.
  • Ogemdi Nwagbuo of the Chargers won bragging rights for the off-season over fellow Spartans Renaldo Hill and Kevin Vickerson; the Chargers took the season series and the game with a 33-28 win over the Broncos. Hill and Vickerson did their part: Hill notched four tackles, a pass defensed, and even an interception, while Vickerson racked up a tackle, tackle for loss, quarterback hit, and sack. Nwagbuo saw time at defensive tackle for San Diego but did not record any stats.
  • The Jets rocketed into the playoffs with a 38-7 trouncing of the Bills. Sidelined with an injury (the lingering effects of a concussion), Eric Smith was not active for New York. Bills back Jehuu Caulcrick returned two kicks for twenty-eight yards in the loss.
  • Right tackle Flozell Adams started for the Steelers, as Pittsburgh trampled the rival Browns, 41-9.
  • Jeremy Ware was not active for the Raiders’ 31-10 spearing of the Chiefs, giving Oakland a 6-0 division record on the year.
  • Rookie wide out Blair White started for the Colts, pulling in four passes for 51 yards in his team’s 23-20 triumph over the Titans. Tennessee running back Javon Ringer rushed the ball once for five yards in the loss.
  • In a game deciding a playoff spot in the NFC West, the Seahawks gave the starting nod to Chris Baker, who caught one pass for one yard in the game. Seattle clinched the division with a 16-6 Sunday Night win over the Rams.
  • The Ravens’ Spartan duo once again bested the pair of MSU alumni on the Bengals, as Baltimore defeated Cincinnatti 13-7. Derrick Mason reeled in three passes for 34 yards and Brandon McKinney had one tackle for the Ravens. Defensive tackle Domato Peko and center Kyle Cook started for the Bengals in the defeat.
  • Center Chris Morris was inactive for the Panthers’ 31-10 loss at the hands of the Falcons.
  • The Trio of Spartans on the Lions ended the season with a win, as Detriot came out victorious over the Vikings, 20-13. Neither quarterback Drew Stanton nor linebacker Julian Peterson appeared in the game. Kicker Dave Rayner connected on field goals of 55 and 37 yards, also recording a special teams tackle on the day.
  • Devin Thomas saw the field at wide receiver for the Giants in a 17-14 win over the rival Redskins.
  • The Bears lost the Pakcers 10-3, allowing Green Bay to claim a playoff spot as the wild card. Kellen Davis played at tight end for Chicago, recording two tackles on special teams.
  • Note: DE Ervin Baldwin (Chicago) and DB Ross Weaver (Dallas) ended the season on their team’s practice squad.
