With half of the regular season under their belt, the Detroit Tigers, I think, are proving people wrong. Some thought that they would return to their old habits this season and not do too hot after making it to the World Series in 2006.

Well, they just swept the Red Sox, who is leading their division and the Tigers are leading the American League Central. The Tigers have an outstanding road record of 27-15 and their home record is not too bad either (25-19). They’ve been boosting it up the past few days with the three wins over Boston and the two wins over Cleveland.

Now, the Tigers have the two teams that they just can’t seem to figure out and those teams are Minnesota and Cleveland. We know that Detroit can beat them. They’ve done it this year. The Tigers just can’t seem to hold on to the leads with these two teams like they can the others.

If the Tigers had to change only one thing for the rest of this year it would be to strengthen the relievers and I have a feeling that there are a lot of people out there that would agree with me on this one. They have not been the strongest this year and that has been what’s hurt us in some of the games. One game that comes to mind is when the Tigers went into the bottom of the ninth inning with a five-run lead at Cleveland and the Indians ended up winning. That was a game that stunned everybody because that should not have happened.

All I know is that I’m looking forward to watching the Tigers play in the post season again this year, as well as in the All-Star game.

Go Magglio! Win the Home Run Derby!
