DETROIT – Following an examination by Dr. Charles Melone in New York, NY today, the Tigers have announced that righthanded pitcher Joel Zumaya has sustained a ruptured tendon in his right middle finger. Zumaya suffered the injury warming up in the bullpen at Kauffman Stadium on Saturday evening.    Zumaya is scheduled to undergo surgery performed by Dr. Melone in New York, NY on Thursday, May 10. It is expected that Zumaya will be back pitching with the Tigers in an estimated 12 weeks.
