LIONS CB RAMZEE ROBINSON
On being drafted:
“First of all, I just want to give praise to almighty God. I feel like my faith was tested. I believed that, no matter what, I was going to end up where I belong. Thankfully and luckily today, it made me a Detroit Lion. Any guy coming into the draft knows his ultimate dream is to have his name called and to be selected, to have the opportunity to be a part of an NFL organization. I am just thankful that my name was finally called.”

On the Mr. Irrelevant Award and trophy: “To be honest with you, I never gave it too much thought. I am sure that I am going to learn a lot about it in the next week or so.”

On whether he will take part in the Mr. Irrelevant festivities: “Most definitely, because I feel like it is a tradition. That is something that I learned at the University of Alabama, how to carry myself as a human being and how to be thankful for the opportunity that I have and the situation that I am in right now.”

On his style of play in the secondary: “My style is just an all-around corner. Anyone watching tape on me can see me playing press coverage, in your face, but at the same time I am disciplined enough to play cover-3, cover-2. I am one of those guys that is easily coachable. The hard-work ethic that I have, along with my film study, is an advantage that I have always had.”

On compensating for his lack of size: “Confidence and my knowledge of the game. I try to put myself in position to make plays. If you are going to look at my height as a disadvantage, take a look at a guy that was just there in Dre Bly and look how he performed. I never thought my height was a disadvantage. Other people saw it as one. I have been successful in the college ranks playing at this size. My thing is to, as quickly as I can, adapt to the next level and try to maintain that high level of play.”

On if he has been contacted by the Mr. Irrelevant Award people as of Sunday evening: “No, I haven’t. They will probably call, but I don’t think that they will be able to get through because my phone has just been going crazy since the pick.”
