Detroit, MI

Comerica Park

The Tigers came into tonight with a 7-5 record and leave with an 8-5 record behind Justin Verlander.  It was Verlander’s first win of the season in three tries.  He threw 98 pitches and 63 of them were strikes.  He went six innings and had six strikeouts!

The highlight of the evening had to be Pudge Rodriguez belting his third homer of the season, this time a grand slam in the first inning.  He had six RBI’s for the night and with tonight’s total that brings his season total to 11.  Carlos Guillen also had a big night for the Bengals, he doubled in the eighth inning with the bases loaded that emptied the sacks.  Guillen also had a homer that ran his RBI total for the night to four and that gives him seven for the season.

The Tigers host the Royals here at COPA again on Tuesday with a 7:05 schedule start time.  I will be back here covering the game after being at the Delvon Roe press conference earlier in the day.
