St. Louis, MO

NCAA Frozen Four

Do you believe in miracles?  No it wasn’t as big of a win as the 1980 USA team but a win here in St. Louis in Saturday could be for the Spartan Nation.  Led by the superb play (after a rough first five minutes in the first period) of goalie Jeff Lerg and the teamwork that has come to represent this Spartan group of young men.  They recovered from being down two goals in a national semi-final game and that says something about this crew.

The Spartans scored four unanswered goals in this game and got themselves an invitation to the national championship game since 1987.  The Spartans have been to the national championship game four times before this (winning in 66’ & 86”) and this will be the third coach to bring this hockey powerhouse to the big game.

One of the Spartan Nation readers emailed in late in the third period and told me that his daughter calls Jeff Lerg the Little Engine that could.  I told that to Jeff after the game and he said, “I like that.  People can call me whatever they want I just want to keep on winning.”

The Spartans will face the winner of the North Dakota vs. BC game here tonight.   Of course I will be here covering it for you.  Make sure you watch Hondo’s House and Hondo’s Highlights on Friday to catch all the post game from here in St. Louis.

Also make sure you keep an eye on the video section for some great videos from here.
